SPA 41300 Major Movements in the 19th-Century Spanish Novel

(GE-CrsClt) This course presents the development of the two major post- Romantic literary movements of 19th-century Spain-Realism and Naturalism. Through intensive reading and analysis of several of the most important works of these two tendencies, the student will gain an understanding of the concerns of various groups of Spanish society, especially the middle class, of the second half of the 19th century. Taught in Spanish.
