EDA 58600 Initial K-12 Field Experience and Data-Based Decision-Making

This course will provide an opportunity for the student to closely study the area of data-based decision making through participation in an internship with a school administrator. Each student will spend at least 90 hours during the semester participating in the activities under the guidance of the professor and an active principal. Topics include identifying school-based problems; collecting, analyzing, and prioritizing data; developing an action plan; using data to make instructional decisions; determining result indicators and monitoring progress; and creating a collaborative team to reflect and improve on day-to-day practice using data. This course will provide an opportunity for the student to closely study the area of administration through participating in an internship with a school administrator. Each student will spend at least 120 hours during the semester participating in the activities of a building administrator, under the guidance of the professor and an active principal. The student will also survey research in educational administration. The course is required for students who are seeking certification as a school administrator.
