This course introduces students to the legal aspects of starting and managing an entrepreneurial venture. In addition, it enhances the student’s awareness of corresponding ethical issues that often occur concurrent with the legal issues. Students will discover how selected moral reasoning theories can be used to develop an ethical business mindset. Students will apply legal and ethical principles to choosing an ownership structure; raising capital; complying with workplace regulations; protecting intellectual property; and hiring employees. Students will apply legal and ethical principles through the use of case studies and simulated business scenarios. Pre-requisite(s): BUS 101 or receive the approval of the Department Chair. Co-requisite(s): None. 5 quarter hours
