Applied Mathematics and Engineering Science

Overview

 Graduates of the Applied Mathematics and Engineering Science program will be equipped with technical expertise to apply mathematical modelling and analysis to engineering and scientific systems and will possess the problem-solving skills necessary to innovate and tackle problems of the future. They will be proficient in applying mathematical, scientific, and engineering principles to real-world problems, ensuring they are prepared to contribute to the advancement of sustainable and efficient solutions. Additionally, they will have communication and teamwork abilities to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Career Opportunities

Employment opportunities for mathematicians and statisticians are projected to grow notably over the next decade. This overall growth is largely driven by expanding roles in the broader mathematical sciences, slightly offsetting the decline in traditional mathematical positions. In contrast, employment specifically for mathematicians is expected to decline slightly, with a projected decrease of about 1%.
