Eng 426 Advanced Topics in Medieval Literature
Specialized studies in Medieval English literature (c. 800-1500). Topics courses are designed to follow a two-quarter sequence: (1) Anglo-Saxon works, and the exegetical reading model; some later Middle English and continental vernacular and Latin medieval works are included and (2) later medieval works (1200-1500), focusing primarily on the Middle English vernacular tradition. Students will have some opportunity to learn to read Old and Middle English. Expected preparation:
Eng 340U and 4 additional upper division Literature credits.
