Writing and Rhetoric Minor

Requirements for the Minor in Writing and Rhetoric

The minor in Writing and Rhetoric consists of 21 credit hours as follows:

I. Three core courses as follows:

ENGL 372	Grammar and Style for Writers	3
Total Credit Hours:		9

II. Four elective courses chosen from the following:

ENGL 299	Special Topics	1-4
ENGL 366	Opinion in Journalism	3
ENGL 373	English Grammar for Everyone	3
ENGL 374	Writing and Social Change	3
ENGL 375	Writing for the Professions	3
ENGL 378	Advanced Writing I: The Essay	3
ENGL 379	Writing in a Digital World	3
ENGL 399	Special Topics	1-4
ENGL 455	Writing Tutors	3
ENGL 465	English Internships	1-12
ENGL 490	Independent Study	1-6
Total Credit Hours:		12

Note:

• A minimum of 15 credit hours counted toward the minor must be taken at Fredonia.

• Courses in the minor may only be taken once for credit, with the exception of ENGL 299 and ENGL 399.

• All students must earn a grade of C or higher in each of their required courses.

• ENGL 399 is a special topics course. Students may only count this in the minor when the topic is pertinent to writing.

• Students may only cross-list 6 credit hours of courses for the English major and their Writing and Rhetoric minor.

• Courses from other departments may be approved for inclusion as electives by the Chairperson. No more than six credits will be accepted. No more than six credits will be accepted.
