GEO 452 Museum Practicum
Museum Practicum provides hands-on experience in the care, maintenance, and interpretation of natural history collections. Students will participate directly in the daily operations of a traditional natural history museum, learning professional standards and practices for building, maintaining, and preserving biological, geological, and cultural specimens. Activities may include specimen preparation, cataloging, database management, collections curation, exhibit design, specimen restoration, and public education. Students will work under supervision on assigned projects tailored to their interests and level of experience. The course is designed to complement academic study in biology, geology, environmental science, anthropology, or museum studies by providing practical, experiential learning.
