Teacher Certification in Social Studies (8-12)

Students desiring to teach Political Science in a public school, grades 8-12, will complete the Social Studies 8-12 composite, B.A. or B.S. degree. This composite also must be accompanied by a History minor.

Students must earn a “C” or better for courses in this major.

In addition, students will need to fulfill general requirements for the B.A. or B.S. degree and the certification requirements of the College of Education requirements. This option is available for certification only.

Admission to Teacher Education Program:

Cumulative GPA must be a minimum of 2.5. A minimum 2.75 GPA and no grades lower than a “C” are required in Academic Support & Professional Development.
