Honors Program

The Honors Program seeks to challenge the University’s most academically gifted students. It offers an introductory Pathways to Honors seminar and special Honors classes that are developed to enhance creative thinking processes while meeting general curriculum distribution requirements of the Baccalaureate Experience.

In the junior and senior years, when students may be carrying heavy course loads in their major fields, they may, with their professors’ permission, create Honors enrichment tutorials for any upper-level course, thereby earning additional Honors credit.

In addition, the program offers Honors Undergraduate Research Fellowship stipends for all disciplines; an Honors Symposia series; special events sponsored by the student Honors Council; “Inspiration through Exploration” awards for travel abroad; scholarships for Honors education abroad; funding for student/scholar presentations at state, regional and national conferences; an Oxford University semester program; internships in Washington, D.C.; a Harvard Model United Nations program; Honors independent study; an Honors lounge; special Honors floors in the residence halls; and detailed narrative assessment of Honors achievements.
