HMGT-245 Casino Surveillance Operations

This course acquaints students with casino surveillance. It specializes in on-site casino surveillance and security. Students are exposed to work done in corporate and Native American casinos related to surveillance, security, and gaming regulation agencies.

Course Objectives

  1. 1. Explain how to detect known methods, from primitive coin-operated slot cheating methods up to the most
    advanced technology in use today by both external cheats and internal thieves
  2. 2. Explain responsibilities and operational methods of a casino Surveillance Department
  3. 3. Evaluate the duties of the people in the Surveillance and Security Departments
  4. 4. Explain how they work together to handle incidents in the casino environment, gather evidence to reduce
    losses to the casino due to theft, cheating, and internal theft.
  5. 5. Compare and contrast the methods of cheating used in casinos through the techniques used on blackjack,
    dice, roulette and other games
  6. 6. Describe methods of cheating and advantage play by game type, as well as the methods of prevention and
    detection from the Surveillance point of view
  7. 7. Analyze game protection procedures, methods of detecting cheating and advantage play at all of the
    common table games
