HMGT-110 Introduction to Casino Management
This introductory course acquaints students with the unique traits of the casino industry. Students will have the opportunity to contrast and compare the casino industry with other segments of the hospitality industry.

Course Objectives
- 1. Cite a chronology of important dates in the history of gaming in America from colonial times to present
day - 2. Explain the significance of Nevada’s success in establishing state-sanctioned, regulated casino gaming
- 3. Cite statistics to describe the size of the casino industry in America today
- 4. Define three social impacts of casino gaming and their correlation with gaming using facts and figures
- 5. Explain the social problems attendant to gaming through American history
- 6. Describe the economic impact of legalized casino gaming on a community
- 7. Explain disordered gambling and the casino industry’s responsibility
- 8. Calculate the odds of any particular outcome in cards or dice
- 9. Describe three documents used to protect games or electronic gaming devices
- 10. Describe and use the formula used to determine the amount in complimentary goods and services to
extend to a customer - 11. Describe the process for extending credit to a customer
- 12. Draw a generic organizational chart of a typical casino in Las Vegas or similar market
- 13. Describe the impact of slot machine technology on controls, customer service, and marketing
- 14. Define terms unique to the casino industry
