4.4 Incomplete Coursework
A grade of incomplete may be considered for a student who does not complete all requirements for a course due to extenuating circumstances. Temporary grades of incompletes may be arranged with the instructor(s). Students must complete all course requirements to change an incomplete grade according to the timeline agreed upon by the instructor(s), not to exceed one calendar year from the date of the request. If a student does not complete the required work within the stipulated time period, the grade will automatically change to a "Fail." Permission from the instructor(s) will be required for extension of time for completion.
The steps for assigning incomplete grades are as follows:
- Instructors will assess the specific student situation to make a recommendation for an incomplete to the Team Lead or Program Director. The Team Lead and Program Director will confirm that the student is eligible to be assigned an incomplete based on extenuating circumstances with an identified completion date.
- The instructor will be responsible for sending the student the incomplete agreement form and identifying a plan for this form to be completed prior to the semester’s grading deadline.
- The instructor will be responsible for assigning an “I” (incomplete) as the course grade along with an agreed upon expiration date when submitting semester grades through IOnline.
- The instructor will then replace the incomplete grade with the final earned course grade by submitting the required grade change form to the Registrar’s Office prior to the identified expiration date assigned for the Incomplete.
- The Team Lead and Program Director will keep a record of contact regarding the extenuating circumstance that warranted an incomplete.
