Survey of health professions and requirements for educational, job, and market demands in selected health careers.  Course helps students to become familiar with the many health professions available as career choices, develop an understanding of the American healthcare system, recognize the requirements of health professionals in today’s healthcare world, and gain insight into life for healthcare providers. Course is graded P/NP.

The course will focus on discernment of academic major and career path(s), as well as articulating the value of a liberal arts degree for post-graduation careers. Using design thinking and career development theories students will engage in meaningful self-exploration, learn how to make effective decisions, and develop an adaptable career and life plan. Course is graded P/NP.

This course introduces students to the career planning process including occupational exploration, internship planning, and how to conduct a job search. Students will learn skills in networking and interviewing, and create self-marketing materials including a resume, cover letter, and professional online presence. After taking this course, students will be better prepared to locate satisfying internships and/or jobs. Course is graded P/NP.

A comprehensive overview of the medical school application process for Junior and Senior level students who have made a well-informed decision to pursue medical school and a career as a physician. During the course students will gain resources and information covering the many parts involved with preparing and applying to medical school. Upon completion, students should be well situated to position themselves for the best application possible for acceptance into medical school. Course is grade P/NP.

In this responsive, transdisciplinary course, and with the instruction of faculty across the University, students grapple with some of today’s biggest crises. Students will use multiple academic lenses to learn how racial justice, public health, and environmental collapse disrupt and intersect with the pursuit of justice, peace, and health. While this course will meet weekly, most learning will take place asynchronously online.

This 1 credit course is a formation requirement each semester for those students serving in leadership as Faith & Formation Ambassadors in their Hall Communities. Under the guidance of the Faith & Formation Leadership Staff, the course engages diverse resources of the University and surrounding community to assist students’ preparation and presentation of reflective case studies based on their experience serving as faith leaders in their communities. Course is graded P/NP.
