The Department of Mathematics offers programs leading to the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees. It is highly recommended that mathematics majors have four years of high school mathematics.
Student Learning Outcomes
Students graduating with a major in Mathematics will:
• Demonstrate problem-solving skills through the application of mathematical principles to real-world and theoretical problems in the areas of calculus, algebra, probability, and statistics
• Use effective communication to express mathematical ideas. This includes the ability to articulate mathematical concepts, present logical arguments, and interpret mathematical results
• Apply critical thinking and mathematical reasoning to analyze mathematical arguments and proofs
• Create an open-ended research project and produce high quality written and oral reports that describe appropriate mathematical insights
