This course introduces various musical styles, influences, and composers of the United States from pre-Colonial times to the present. Emphasis is placed on the broad variety of music particular to American culture. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate skills in basic listening and understanding of American music. This course has been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement and the Independent Comprehensive Articulation Agreement general education core requirement in humanities/fine arts.
