Studies of Religions and Spirituality Minor

Degree Requirements

The faculty of the Department for Studies of Religions and Spirituality has designed a minor in Studies of Religions and Spirituality to complement a student’s interests and studies in other academic disciplines. The minor in Studies of Religions and Spirituality requires a minimum of five (5) course-credits, as follows:

Required Religion Courses

The student must complete at least four (4) additional courses in the study of Religions and Spirituality:

  • The student must complete at least two (2) of these courses that are designated as courses from the curriculum of the Department for Studies of Religions and Spirituality and not cross-listed with any other academic department;
  • Of the four additional courses from the Department for Studies of Religions and Spirituality, a student must complete at least one (1) 200-level course designated from the Department for Studies of Religions and Spirituality that is not cross-listed with any other academic department;
  • Of the four additional courses from the Department for Studies of Religions and Spirituality, a student must complete at least one (1) regular 300-level course designated from the Department for Studies of Religions and Spirituality that is not cross-listed with any other academic department (NOTE: Independent Studies, Internships, Team-Initiated Studies, and Directed Studies will not fulfill this basic requirement);
  • To fulfill the requirement of four additional courses, a student may complete no more than two (2) potential interdisciplinary collateral courses in studies of religions and spirituality from other academic departments of the College that the Department for Studies of Religions and Spirituality may approve upon request.
