For curriculum information, contact the Science, Engineering, and Technology Division—Room ST-248—443-518-1600.

Construction managers are integral members of design and construction teams responsible for the scope, schedule, cost, and quality of building construction projects. This area of study provides students with the foundation of knowledge and skills necessary to perform a management role in the building construction industry (strategic thinking, technical know-how/problem solving, and collaborative teamwork). The Construction Management (CNST) area of study prepares students to succeed in architectural, engineering, and general contracting jobs with various titles such as field engineer, project engineer, superintendent, project manager, and project executive. The curriculum includes lecture, lab, and jobsite experiences that give students a solid background in the areas of building materials and methods, building systems, construction contract documentation, planning, procurement, cost estimating, scheduling, operations, safety, and quality control. The area of study also includes a focus on general studies, with coursework in the physical sciences, economics, ethics, and communications. Students who are interested in a bachelor’s degree are advised to check the requirements of the institution to which they intend to transfer.
