ANTH-221 Cultures of the Spanish-Speaking World

In this course, students will study the geography and history of the countries where Spanish is the main language as they apply to the development of various cultures, attitudes, and beliefs. They will compare and contrast various institutions, both governmental and social, with special emphasis on a specific country or region, such as Spain, South America, the Caribbean, and/or Mexico. Students will also look at the expression of culture through art, music, food, dress, and literature. Taught in English, this course does not fulfill the world languages sequence requirement.
