This course describes the etiology, signs, symptoms, and treatment of diseases and disorders commonly encountered in physical therapy.

Course Objectives

  1. 1. Describe common human diseases in terms of causes, lesions, and typical manifestations
    relative to the field of physical therapy.
  2. 2. Use the terminology of pathology in the appropriate context.
  3. 3. Formulate a reasonable in-depth understanding of basic disease mechanisms, including the
    structural, biochemical, and functional derangements that accompany disease.
  4. 4. Identify the foundations of cell injury, adaptation, inflammation, and repair.
