NP 740 Ind Psy Interv:Par-Child-Adol
Prerequisites: NP-733, NP-762, NP-845. Pass/Fail, audit not available. The psychiatric and emotional health of children, adolescents and their parents/caretakers will be explored through developmental, interactional, behavioral, and psychobiological models. Standards of practice, clinical guidelines and evidence based data will be explored for the prevention, assessment, diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric and mental health concerns of this population. A range of treatment modalities will be addressed with particular emphasis on the role of play therapy, peer/group therapy and family interventions (e.g. Parent-Child Interaction Therapy; Dyadic therapy. Safety, quality improvement and patient rights as they relate to this population will be reviewed. This course prepares the student to provide competent and comprehensive care to this population.
