NP-733 Psychobio & Psychopharm Lfspn

Prerequisites: NP-845 or as a co-requisite or permission of instructor. The etiology, assessment, and course of major psychiatric disorders throughout the lifespan will be explored, together with appropriate pharmacologic interventions. Current research evidence and psychobiological theories focusing on psychiatric disease will provide the foundation for medication prescription. Specific prescribing considerations across the lifespan, from child through geriatric populations will be incorporated throughout with particular focus on safety, monitoring for and managing side effects, and integration of medication management into the full treatment plan. The course aims to provide the foundations for understanding symptoms and treatment from a psychobiological perspective while utilizing a pragmatic focus on symptom management.
