Tutoring:

Generally, small group tutoring is available to students who are performing with a GPA less than 3.3, who have been identified by course faculty as at risk for not successfully completing a course, or students who are on academic probation. Each semester, all students' performance will be reviewed and those students identified as meeting the criteria of tutoring will be offered the opportunity to participate in small group tutoring. Small group tutoring will be offered as weekly sessions lasting 2 hours for a group of 3-5 students. Students who feel that they may benefit from small group tutoring should speak with their academic advisor who will communicate with the associate chair.

The success of small group tutoring is the responsibility of all group participants. Responsibilities of students enrolled in tutoring sessions include:

  1. attend scheduled sessions and notify tutor & associate chair in event of an absence
  2. prepare questions and topics for discussion prior to each session
  3. maintain confidentiality of student group
  4. provide feedback on tutoring experience

Individual tutoring sessions are at a cost to the student, but faculty may help to identify appropriate tutors.
