Deferral of Admission

Though generally not permitted, deferral requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis and are approved only in extreme circumstances or military deployment.

Students requesting a deferral must take note of the following stipulations and procedures:

  1. Email admissions@mghihp.edu and request a deferral.
  2. In order to defer, an applicant must be accepted into a program and submit the enrollment deposit/enrollment form, formally accepting the offer of admission by the deposit deadline provided. After confirming enrollment acceptance, the Office of Admission asks the accepted student to submit a Deferral Request Statement, along with a Deferral Request Form.
  3. The deferral request will then be reviewed by the Admissions Committee and the Academic Program. The decision concerning the deferral request will be sent to the accepted student via email.
  4. Once a deferral request is approved, the student will receive an email with instructions and requirements. Students who do not follow instructions and/or fail to notify the Office of Admission within the allotted time limit will forfeit their admission offer and deposit, and will be required to go through the application process again. Despite previous acceptance, there is no guarantee of acceptance to future start terms and/or programs.
  5. All approved deferrals are provided the start term to which their deferral was granted on the approval notice, up to one year. If the student does not successfully enroll in the deferral term, the student will be required to re-apply for admission.
  6. If approved, all students who defer admission will forfeit any and all grants and scholarships awarded at the time of admission, and will be reviewed for scholarship again at the term of which they deferred to.
  7. Students admitted from the Waitlist are not eligible to request a deferral.
  8. Newly deposited students may be eligible to receive deferral approval one time only prior to enrollment in any program. Students are not eligible to request or receive a second deferral.
