Graduation

The IHP OTD Program offers two points of graduation – May and September.  The process of determining each individual student’s curriculum path is coordinated by the Program during Summer Session 2.  This planning process involves program coordination by the Capstone Coordinator for ADE Mentor assignments, working in conjunction with the Fieldwork Program for Level II Fieldwork placement logistics.

For May Graduation, students progress through the OTD Program in a lock-step progression with full-time enrollment for every semester of the curriculum, concluding the final year of the program with:

  • Summer Level 2 Fieldwork – first placement
  • Fall Level 2 Fieldwork – second placement
  • ADE (Jan-April)
  • May Graduation

For September Graduation, students have the option to take-off Summer 3 with no enrollment in classes, or, to enroll for a minimum of 3.0 credits of electives to be eligible to receive Financial Aid.  Details of the implications on enrollment and financial aid can be found in the Institute Catalog under Definition of Full-Time Study.

  • Summer – off (no classes), or option for part-time enrollment (3.0 credits required for Financial Aid)
  • Fall Level 2 Fieldwork – first placement
  • Winter (Jan-March) Level 2 Fieldwork – second placement
  • ADE (April-July)
  • September Graduation

Once a student has completed all course work and fieldwork requirements, the student will be cleared for graduation.

Commencement events are held in May for all students graduating in January, May, or September of a given calendar year. To be considered for graduation, students must submit the required application for graduation.  Reminders about this process will be sent from the Registrar’s Office prior to the application period. For more information, visit the Registrar’s Commencement website.
