Direct Entry Master of Science in Nursing (DEN)

  • All applications to the Direct-Entry Master of Science in Nursing program are processed through the Nursing Centralized Application Service (NursingCAS).

  • Applicants are required to select their advanced practice specialty track prior to submitting their NursingCAS application within the Custom Questions. If granted acceptance to the program, the applicant is accepted to the specialty track to which they applied. 

  • Admission into the DEN program requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited US college or university. Applicants who are graduates from outside the US must provide proof of equivalency of a bachelor's degree by submitting a course-by-course evaluation from one of the following NACES (National Association of Credential Evaluation Services) members: Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc., SpanTran: The Evaluation Company, World Education Services (WES), or the Center for Educational Documentation. If you earned your bachelor’s degree outside the U.S. this credential evaluation must document minimum equivalency of a US baccalaureate degree or higher. A bachelor's degree may be in-progress at the time of application, provided completion prior to anticipated matriculation into the DEN program.  
  • Completion of the following prerequisite courses with a grade of C+ or better is required for admission (all courses should have been taken within 7 years of the application deadline). All prerequisites courses must be completed prior to matriculation:

    • Chemistry (No lab required)

    • Human Anatomy or Human Anatomy & Physiology I

    • Human Physiology or Human Anatomy & Physiology II

    • Human Growth & Development (Must cover lifespan) aka: Development Psychology 

    • Microbiology (No lab required)

    • Human Nutrition

    • Statistics (Must include inferential statistics)

  • Applicants with extenuating circumstances may apply for a waiver of the 7-year policy by completing and submitting the DEN Prerequisite Time Limit Waiver Form. This form should be submitted either before or along with the application for admission and is available in the “Application Process” section of our website.
