9.2 Notification of Absences
For all academic courses, students must notify all course faculty as far in advance as possible if they are unable to attend class. In cases of an unplanned absence, students must contact course-associated faculty, including the fieldwork supervisor, as soon as possible, ideally before the scheduled class-time or fieldwork placement. An e-mail should be sent, with the addition of a voice mail message when available, indicating the length of and reasons for the absence. Absences are only acceptable for reasons such as emergencies, illness, religious observance, job interviews for positions post-graduation, or attendance at a professional conference. Outside of emergencies and/or illness, students must give faculty several weeks notice of absence. Students are responsible for all material covered, in-class activities, and assignments on days that are missed for any reason.
