Curriculum and Instruction with Advanced Professional Specializations, Ed.S.

The National Louis University Curriculum and Instruction with Advanced Professional Specializations program is designed for experienced, career-oriented educators seeking to amplify the power and versatility of their credentials by adding concentrations in areas of content expertise. This program enables teachers to expand their job qualifications directly and efficiently primarily through online courses leading to endorsements in high-demand specializations.

Program Learning Outcomes (ULOs):

Upon successful completion of the CIC academic program, students will be able to:


PLO 1: Accommodate diverse needs of learners, though the use of appropriate curriculum enactments, assessments, and data analysis;

PLO 2: Make instructional decisions that effectively support the learning process of students;

PLO 3: Develop deeper understanding of a self-selected content area, its history, background, and impact on the profession;

PLO 4: Integrate theory and practice by conducting inquiry;

PLO 5: Critically reflect and articulate professional beliefs and ethics in relation to their practice,

PLO 6: Collaborate with colleagues productively; and

PLO 7: Advocate for evidence-based productive change that is informed by research and the needs of the students in their care. 

In addition to the National College of Education Graduate Admission Requirements, applicants must:

  • Hold master's degree from a regionally accredited institution 
  • Hold valid current Illinois Professional Educator License if they wish to apply for an Illinois endorsement 

Program Details:

  • Requires 30- 43 SH for completion
  • Requires the completion of two concentration from the list below 
  • May require additional electives to meet a minimum of 30 SH for the degree completion
