Registered Behavior Technician, Baccalaureate Certificate
The primary purpose of the Registered Behavior Technician Program is to prepare students to work as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) in clinical, school, or home settings. It is designed to provide the knowledge and skills outlined on the RBT Task List so that students are positioned to earn their RBT certification from the Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB) as well as support students in applying and deepening their knowledge and skills as they begin working as new RBTs in the field. Finally, this program aims to support students in defining their career aspirations and identifying the role that continued education may play in those aspirations. This program is designed to be offered to undergraduate level students who are interested in working as RBTs with one of Accelerate U’s employer partners.
Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs):
PLO1. Students will act in accordance with current professional ethical standards, consistent with the RBT Ethics Code, in order to protect the consumers of applied behavior analysis services.
PLO2. Students will apply behavior analytic measurement as dictated by current best practices in behavior analytic literature, to ensure that data are collected on client outcomes.
PLO3. Students will apply behavior analytic assessment as dictated by current best practices in behavior analytic literature, to inform appropriate interventions.
PLO4. Students will apply and evaluate behavior analytic interventions as dictated by current best practices in behavior analytic literature, to ensure appropriate outcomes for the client.
PLO5 Students will engage in professional conduct consistent with the RBT role and scope of practice, in order to represent the field in an ethical manner.
PLO6. Students will be mindful and reflective of their personal values and practice and how they relate to their role as a helping professional.
PLO7. Students will act with awareness of cultural humility, diversity, equity, and inclusion when practicing in their role as an RBT.
In addition to the Undergraduate Admissions requirements, applicants must:
- Complete successful interview with members of the program Admissions Committee
Program Details:
- Requires 25 QH for completion
- Requires completion of CAR 204 and RBT courses at NLU
- Requires a minimum grade of "C" or better in all coursework in the program
- Requires a min GPA of 2.0 for graduation
- Requires successful completion of the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) exam for certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
- Note: While students are required to take the certification exam for program completion, passing is not required.

Program Related Policies
Students are expected to conduct themselves in the classroom as they would in the place of employment. Because knowledge gained in the classroom or practicum directly impacts the student’s future ability to provide client care, all breaches of ethical behavior are considered extremely serious.
Affiliating employer partners may require a criminal background check and drug screen as a prerequisite for practicum experience. Positive/flagged results can result in the employer partner denying the student access to practicum in the facility. Any student who is denied access to a practicum facility may not be allowed to progress in the program. Students are responsible for fees associated with background check/drug screen.
