BIOL 4360 Bacteriology

Bacteria and the viruses that infect them are examined, including form, structure, reproduction, physiology, metabolism, characterization and identification. Major emphasis will be on distribution in nature and their beneficial and detrimental effects on humans and agriculture. Students will also learn how to read, analyze and discuss primary scientific literature publications on related topics. Prerequisites: BIOL 2380/2180 and BIOL 3310 with a 'C' or higher in each course. Laboratory fee. Spring only.
