University Core Curriculum Requirements — 40 credit hours
All University of Portland students progress through a set of shared course options as part of the University’s liberal arts Core Curriculum. This curriculum offers a foundation of multiple lenses to address enduring questions of human concern, integrating the liberal arts, the University mission, and the knowledge, skills, and values needed in a diverse society and in the workplace.

One of the three core requirements in the Scientific and Quantitative Literacy and Problem Solving Habit is satisfied by PSY 101 within the major.
PSY 214 and PSY 498/499 are the designated Writing in the Discipline courses for the B.A. in Psychology.

Required Courses — 9 credit hours
Capstone - 3 credit hours
Select one course from the following:
Upper-division psychology electives - 21 credit hours
Select 21 upper-division PSY credit hours, including at least one course from each of the following three groups:
Group 1 courses (the brain level) - 3 credit hours or more
Select from the following:
Group 2 courses (the mind level) - 3 credit hours or more
Select from the following:
Group 3 courses (the behavior level) - 3 credit hours or more
Select from the following:
Select at least one additional 3 credit hour course from one of these Groups as a specialized area of study.
Any additional credit hours required to complete a minimum of 120 credit hours
A maximum of six non-classroom credit hours may be used for completion of the major.
