Student Government Association

All curriculum students who are regularly enrolled at Western Piedmont Community College and who have paid the student activity fee are entitled to vote in Student Government Association elections and to participate in all activities of the Student Government Association.

The Student Government Association (SGA) is designed to promote the general welfare of the College in a democratic fashion and to facilitate communication between students, faculty, and administration.  Through the Executive Council of the SGA and the Student Senate, activity funds are budgeted for social and cultural events, special interest clubs, and organizations that have been officially recognized by Western Piedmont Community College.  Every curriculum student is entitled to participate in activities sponsored and hosted by the SGA.

The College encourages student participation in institutional decision-making through Student Senate meetings that are open to all students.  To become a voting member of the Senate, students must be a member of a recognized student organization and be appointed as a Senator by said organization's membership.

SGA Executive Council elections are held each spring for the upcoming academic year.  The Executive Council consists of President, Vice President, Parliamentarian, Treasurer, and Secretary.  If you would like more information about the SGA or running for an elected office, please contact the Coordinator of Student Affairs & Recruitment in Student Services, Hildebrand Hall.

The President of the SGA serves as an ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees of Western Piedmont College. The SGA President, under the direction of the Coordinator of Student Affairs, is responsible for appointing Executive Council members as needed to Standing Committees of the College.

Notices of Senate meetings are distributed through club advisors, student emails and campus video monitors.
