This course covers African American history from the Civil War to the present. Topics include Reconstruction, the Jim Crow era, urbanization, the Harlem Renaissance, the Civil Rights movement, and the philosophies of major African-American leaders. Upon completion, students should be able to analyze significant political, socioeconomic, and cultural developments in African-American history since the Civil War. This course has been approved for transfer under the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement and Independent Comprehensive Articulation Agreement as a premajor and/or elective course requirement.
