Median annual wages nationally of registered nurses were $65,470 in 2012. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $45,040, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $94,720. Median annual wages in the industries employing the largest numbers of registered nurses in 2012 were:

• $68,540 in government organizations
• $67,210 in hospitals
• $62,090 in home health care services
• $58,830 in nursing and residential care facilities
• $58,420 in offices of physicians
