Median annual wages nationally for interior designers were $53,370 in May 2018. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $27,270, and the top 10 percent earned more than $93,780. The median annual wages in 2016 for interior designers in the top five industries in which they worked were as follows:
- $59,670 in architectural, engineering, and related services
- $52,640 in residential building construction
- $50,680 in wholesale trade
- $51,240 in specialized design services
- $45,550 in furniture stores
