Median annual wages nationally for interior designers were $56,040 in May 2019. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $31,970, and the top 10 percent earned more than $96,470. The median annual wages in 2016 for interior designers in the top five industries in which they worked were as follows:
- $60,910 in architectural, engineering, and related services
- $53,870 in wholesale trade
- $54,710 in specialized design services
- $47,340 in furniture stores
