MUSC-231 History of Western Art Music II: Classical to End of Nineteenth Century

Through a systematic and organized presentation of historical events, theoretical thoughts, musical practice, representative composers and their works, the students gain a comprehensive overview and knowledge in the unfolding stylistic development of Western Art Music from the Classical to the end of Nineteenth century. Students enrolled in this class will be required to demonstrate a listening comprehension of the representative musical compositions covered in this class by completing an aural proficiency assessment successfully.
