PHT 1210C Therapeutic Modalities
Instructs the student in the operation and application of therapeutic modalities used by the physical therapist assistant. The student will be given the opportunity to develop knowledge of the physical principles, physiological effects, indications and contraindications of heat, cold, light, traction, compression, electricity and massage on the body; an understanding of selected tests and evaluation procedures which are related to the application of the modalities; and the modality or procedure which would be most appropriate in the application to a specific clinical symptom. The student will develop the skills to safely apply these modalities in all clinical settings.
