CE 420 Advanced Mechanics of Materials

Advanced studies in mechanics of materials including fundamentals of elasticity, phenomenological material behavior, and theories of failure. Timoshenko beam theory, stress functions, shear stresses, unsymmetrical sections, and beams on elastic foundations. Thick-walled cylinders; approximate methods. Also offered for graduate-level credit as CE 520 and may be taken only once for credit.
