Study of themes, genres, history, and culture in 19th century American literature: Topics: sentimental literature, immigrant literature, post- Civil War literature, imperial adventures, minority literatures in 19th century American literature. For offerings for a particular term, consult the University schedule, the English Department website and/or an adviser. May be repeated with different topics: maximum of 8 hours to be applied to master's degree. Expected preparation:
