Student Catalog Year

Undergraduate Student’s Catalog Year

A student’s catalog year is the year of their initial matriculation at Fredonia.

A student’s general education program is determined by the year they matriculate at Fredonia or the year they matriculate at any other SUNY.

A student’s program (their major, minor, certificate, or other delineated curricular path) is determined by the year in which they declare the program.

Making a change to one part of a student’s curriculum (adding a minor or changing a major, for example) does not affect the catalog year for the rest of the student’s curriculum.

If Fredonia changes program requirements, it is assumed that students will follow program curriculum in place for the year in which they declared the major, minor, or other program.  Students may submit a request to follow the updated requirements; contact the Registrar's Office.

A student has 10 years from their established matriculation term to complete their degree. After 10 years, their curricular path for general education and the major, minor, or other program will be reviewed. (For more information see Fredonia's Requirements for a Bachelor’s Degree).

Graduate Student’s Catalog Year

A student’s catalog year is the year of their initial matriculation at Fredonia.

A student’s program (their master’s degree, advanced certificate, or other delineated curricular path) is determined by the year in which they declare the program.

Making a change to one part of a student’s curriculum (adding an advanced certificate while completing a master’s, for example) does not affect the catalog year for the rest of the student’s curriculum.

If Fredonia changes program requirements, it is assumed that students will follow the curriculum in place at the time of their initial declaration. Students may submit a request to follow the updated requirements; contact the Registrar's Office.

A student has five years from their established matriculation term to complete their degree. After five years, their curricular path will be reviewed. (For more information see Fredonia's Graduate Degree Requirements.)
