COMM 520 EDITING AND POST PRODUCTION

A study of techniques used for video editing and post production involving hands-on instruction in editing, compositing, and post production techniques using non-linear editing equipment and creative software. Includes a discussion of narrative structure as it relates to the editing process. An online pre-session includes readings and evidence of knowledge related to the basic concepts of video editing. A two-week residency includes face-to-face instruction and hands-on experience editing projects and using various post-production techniques for the purpose of improving, enhancing and finalizing video productions. An online post-session includes editing, analysis and critique of projects. (Prerequisite: Filmmaking Basics Seminar.)
