Median annual wages nationally for interior designers were $49,810 in May 2016. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $26,260, and the top 10 percent earned more than $91,230. The median annual wages in 2014 for interior designers in the top five industries in which they worked were as follows:
- $57,620 in architectural, engineering, and related services
- $52,640 in residential building construction
- $50,760 in wholesale trade
- $47,940 in specialized design services
- $43,720 in furniture stores
