MUS 350P Piano Literature I
Prerequisite: MUA 221p (piano) or permission of instructor
Offered: Typically as student interest and faculty availability allow
The study of the history and literature of piano music as it developed through the ages. Starting with the early national schools of keyboard music and progressing through the music of Beethoven, the course will deal with different phases of keyboard development, the more important musical forms, performance practice, and the significant piano music of the major composers of each era. Individual research, some informal performance in class by both the teacher and the student, as well as outside listening, will be included. Two periods per week. 1/2 Course Credit
