EDU 30900 Analysis and Correction of Reading Disabilities

This course is designed to teach students the diagnostic/ prescriptive process necessary to deal with readers at various developmental levels in the classroom. Students learn to use and analyze a variety of informal and standardized diagnostic reading tests appropriate for individual and group diagnosis. Students also learn to use commercial and teacher-made materials in conjunction with basal readers to provide appropriate instruction. Students are expected to work with a problem reader during the course. Offered every semester. This course is to be taken concurrently with or prior to EDU 30999 to meet early childhood, early childhood special education, and elementary education degree program requirements.
