REL 22400 Women, Religion, and Violence

GE-Human Culture: Religion/Human Diversity (GE-HumCul:Rel/HumDiv) The relationship between women, religion, and violence against women is real but often ignored. In this course you will study Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Indigenous African religion as they pertain to women. Emphasis on how each religion engenders violence against women while also providing the basis to understand how women challenge and reconstruct their faiths.
