NP 845 Psychiatric/Mental Health Theory I
Prerequisites: RN status; Co- or prerequisite: NP 739, NP 715, NP 762N. Pass/fail and audit options not available. This course provides the foundation for understanding the clinical management of psychiatric mental health problems and disorders for individuals across the lifespan. Theoretical frameworks for understanding the development and treatment of problems are explored. Students are introduced to process, principles, and ethical consideration of interviewing, assessing, diagnosing and initial treatment planning. Principles and strategies are introduced to promote health and prevent illness for individuals and families across the lifespan.
