ELE 470 Elementary Education: Student Teaching

This is the final course in the professional sequence of the Elementary Education program leading to certification for teaching in Elementary grade 1-6 classrooms. The course combines university and field experiences focusing on active involvement in a classroom under the supervision of a cooperating teacher and university supervisor. The course advances the candidate's professional growth through study and application of instruction to support the learning of individuals and groups, completion of a web-based professional portfolio, and additional opportunities to bridge theory and practice. Candidates advance their understanding of school environments that support learning and collegial relationships in the school. NOTE: Candidates will spend five days per week, all day, in an applicable classroom setting for the entirety of the 10-week term. Pre-requisite(s): All major coursework must be completed, and passed with a grade of C or better, before student teaching. Passage of the Elementary Content Tests (#197 - #200) is required. Co-requisite(s): None. 10 quarter hours
