This course examines the health implications of the human relationship to the biosphere and the effect of environmental change on physical, biological, and social patterns. You will learn federal and state regulations, guidelines, mandates, and authorities that control environmental and emergency preparedness issues and operations. You will also study introductory principles of emergency preparedness and how they relate to environmental disasters and emergencies. Topics will be categorized by environment or context (home, work, general environment, air, water). Broad categories of important environmental agents will be addressed as a group (radiation, pests, pesticides, food safety, toxins, and air safety). Pre-requisite(s): MPH 500.
