USP 519 Population and Society

Survey and analysis of population dynamics (births, deaths, and migration) and society. Examination of demographic concepts, theories, data and measurements, and research. Role of population processes in social life and public policies are highlighted, including population aging, economic development and the environment, urbanization, health and health care, race and ethnicity, and government/social/business planning. Also offered for undergraduate-level credit as USP 419; this course is the same as Soc 441/541; course may only be taken once for credit.
