2.1.7 Assistant to the President for Diversity

The Assistant to the President for Diversity will serve the University's mission by

  1. Promoting awareness, respect, understanding, and support for the diverse backgrounds and experiences represented by students, staff, faculty and administrators in the campus community
  2. Assisting in recruiting and retention of students, staff, faculty and administrators representing diverse backgrounds and experiences

  1. In carrying out the responsibilities of the office, the Assistant to the President for Diversity is expected to
    1. Inform and advise the campus community on issues of diversity in academia and in SDA higher education
    2. Develop and promote programs and activities that inform and educate the campus on issues of diversity
    3. Assist in recruitment and retention of students, staff, faculty and administrators of diverse backgrounds
    4. Represent diverse perspectives to the President as a member of President's Cabinet
    5. Serve as adviser to campus clubs, organizations, and committees on issues associated with diversity 
    6. Oversee implementation and maintenance of a diversity plan for the University
    7. Serve as chair of the campus Diversity and Inclusion Council
    8. Perform such other duties and functions as the President may assign
